Kokkinakis - Tennis Betting Tips

Could be a rough Day 4 for the Aussies including Thanasi Kokkinakis who comes up against Jack Draper. See our outright Australian Open betting previews here.

Best Bet

Under 18.5
Total Games - Paula Badosa vs Tahlia Gibson

Badosa was slightly off in her first-round match against the dangerous 37th ranked Xin Yu Wang, but she still advanced in straight sets – but the Spaniard shouldn’t have any issues here.

She faces 20-year-old Australian, Talia Gibson, who is ranked 150th in the world. It was Gibson’s first top-100 win in the first round when she beat the 94th ranked Sonmez, but that won’t compare to the challenge of Paula Badosa.

Unfortunately for the Australian, this could be over quickly.

Next Best

Tomas Machac -3.5
Line - Reilly Opelka vs Tomas Machac

The Czech is quality and I’m a bit concerned with how Opelka’s body will hold up. The American had to retire in Brisbane leading into the Australian Open, and wasn’t overly convincing against the 239th ranked first-round opponent.

Machac on the other hand is coming off a big 2024 with hard court wins over Alcaraz and Rublev, and is a real wildcard to emerge from this third quarter.

Just think the Czech is way too good for the underdone American and this line is too short.

Over 36.5
Total Games - Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Felix Auger Aliassime

The Spaniard is such a tricky opponent and highly unpredictable – we could see FAA wipe the floor with him, or we could see Davidovich Fokina take this contest to five sets.

The two have met on four occasions with the Canadian holding a 4-0 career record over the Spaniard, but all have been relatively tight. From the 11 sets they’ve played, eight have gone to 7.

Davidovich Fokina will enter this fresh off the back of his opponent retiring in the second set in the first-round, so don’t be surprised if he can sneak a set early.

Jack Draper -3.5
Line - Jack Draper vs Thanasi Kokkinakis

What a first-round match-up. The wraps on Joao Fonseca are insane – many touting him to join the If Kokkinakis’ post-match interview is anything to go by, the Australian is “cooked”. It was a huge win by the Kokk, but four hours on court with a question mark surrounding his shoulder is not ideal leading into this contest with Jack Draper.

The Brit was fairly poor in his opening round and also needed five sets, but is probably better placed for this second-round match-up of the two players.

Draper is eyeing off a deep run this Australian Open to go with his Semi Final at last year’s US Open – he should cover despite the Australian crowd.

Diana Shnaider -4.5
Line - Diana Shnaider vs Ajla Tomljanovic

Tough second-round for Ajla Tomljanovic against the 12th seed.

It was a great win by the Australian, but her opponent Ashlyn Krueger entered the Australian Open under an injury cloud.

Tomljanovic played three matches since July last year against top-20 opposition and just managed to win a total of 13 games over six sets. The Russian played some great tennis to finish 2024, this should be a regulation for her.

Value Bet

Jakub Mensik
Match - Casper Ruud vs Jakub Mensik

The 19-year-old Czech is a huge talent, and is 17-9 on hard court since September 14 last year, including the scalps of Rublev and Dimitrov – think we’re about to add Casper Ruud to that list.

The Norwegian is just no good on this Australian surface – he needed five sets to get past clay courter Jaume Munar in the first-round, and across his career at Melbourne Park he’s got a 2-4 record against top-50 opposition.

Shocked to see Ruud favourite in this.
