This race has been reduced to five runners with scratchings and Realika is clearly the class runner of the field now. She was terrific first up at Caulfield on the Heath then should be forgiven for last time at Pakenham when she struggled to make ground in a slowly run race. Out to 2100m Beau Mertens should be able to sit in the first couple and if she handles the going, should simply be too good.

Empress of the Sun ran a terrific race at Warrnambool over the carnival, finishing second over the 2350m on what was very heavy ground. The Maher stable have given her a month to get over that run and she is still lightly raced, with only ten career runs to her name, so should be open to improvement. Dropping from 56Kg to 54Kg she looks well placed against a similar field here.

Male Model was just fair first up at Bendigo but had excuses here. The 1100m was far too short and he was stuck in the worst part of the track. Second up, out to 1400m and on a bigger track, expect a much better performance today, especially on the wet ground which he flies on. Excellent bet at good odds.
