In what can only be described as a massive win for racing, Wednesday’s meeting has been shifted at the last minute from Mornington to Sandown following a burst irrigation piple.

Alero shapes as a real beneficiary of the move to Sandown as he should get the perfect run just off the speed, and the extra 100m is in his favour as well. He ran well first up at Flemington down the straight, but was in the wrong section of the track. This should set up perfectly for him, with enough speed on early.

Super Mirage was a big drifter in betting first up for new trainer Gavin Bedggood but he did play up in the mounting yard before the race. Nevertheless, he was disappointing. Still, he finds a very suitable race here with the distance back from 2050m to 1800m with blinkers going on for the first time, and his best form would win this.
