He was absolutely surging through the line suggesting he will want this 1300m trip at a minimum. A real talent, he comes from a stable that is in outstanding form of late (Grahame Begg).

Good maiden to kick things off but keen to be with the former Kiwi Engine of War, who lines up for his first start for the Price/Kent stable. He was a good thing beaten on debut in NZ when forced to check across heels and his jumpouts leading into this have been very smart. Shapes as a possible Derby contender.

El Tercero is perhaps less suited to the 1000m than some of the runners in this race but he is talented enough and jumping out well enough that I want to be with him first up. His back to back wins last prep were terrific in races that produced a number of subsequent winners. Will be flying home late.
