Racing heads back to Sandown on Wednesday for the second time in four days, and with fine weather around we could be looking at close to good ground.

Kodiak Bear did a very good job when stepping up enormously in class at Caulfield last time out. The gelding was poorly in under the set weight and penalties conditions but stuck on well to finish fourth. This is a big drop in grade and with the Symon Wilde stable in terrific form, he gets his chance for a deserved win.

Casanova didn’t beat a single runner home in three runs for his old stable but clearly Claire Lever has unlocked something with the horse as he improved sharply to run third first up at Hawkesbury. The form out of that race looks solid enough and he can race on speed which is a big advantage here.

Unlimited Magic draws to get the right run and in an even race that can make all the difference. Coming back in trip and back on to a firmer surface are big pluses for this mare, who will get every chance with Ben Melham up.

If you can look past Eishaa’s last start flop – and she had excuses, pulling up lame – she is right in this race. Her first up run behind Rhapsody Chic was terrific and the form out of that race has been strong. Like the booking of Mark Zahra who hasn’t ridden much for the Preusker stable.
