Yachiyo comes up as an odds on favourite but a very worthy one. The Japanese mare comes out of the $300K Rising Stars final at Bendigo last time where she wasn’t beaten far. Prior to that she was a brilliant winner. Lightly raced with ample upside, she should be way too good.

Excenia made her debut at Flemington in a much stronger race behind four time winning two year old Shining Smile. She finished sixth of nine there but she should be much better for that experience and gets a nice drop in class. The filly has drawn wide, but if Mick Dee can get cover early she can run over them late.

Baby Hazel had no luck last time here over 1100m, being held up for nearly all of the straight. It was a total forgive run and her prior form had been excellent. The filly steps up to 1400m but the wide draw should suit. Damian Lane taking over won’t hurt either.
