Bigolino has been well backed since markets opened and it’s not hard to see why. The Patrick Payne trained gelding was game in defeat last time at Pakenham and this race looks easier. Look for Mikaela Lawrence to press forward on him, in all likelihood the best going will be out wide by this time of day anyway.

Pankhurst ran in a much stronger race than this first up at Warrnambool over the carnival and was far from disgraced. She should be fitter for that run and getting out to 1600m second up looks ideal. Expect John Allen to sit back in the run and charge home late.

Bazini was terrific first up over the 2200m only going down by a nose to a Maher/Eustace trained runner with a huge gap back to third. The son of Dundeel should have taken good fitness benefit from that and although this has some depth, he looks a stayer of real promise and certainly good enough to take this out.
