Racing Tips – Tuesday Best Bets for Flemington

Home Affairs Lightning Stakes - Expert Horse Racing Tips

It’s the greatest day on the racing calendar with the Melbourne Cup highlighting an outstanding card of racing at Flemington. With perfect weather around, the track should be rated good.

Melbourne Cup

5. Vauban
Flemington R7 (3.00pm)

This race is the culmination of an 18 month plan that started to come together when he was an effortless winner at the Royal Ascot meeting, after which he won his way into the Cup with a Group 3 win at Naas.

Because he has spent most of his career hurdling, he doesn’t pay the penalty at the weights that other top class Europeans have.

Not just the best horse in the race, he is the best weighted horse in the race, and he comes from a stable that knows exactly what they are doing. All being equal, he will win.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 4/5

Best Bet

6. Lord Vladivostok
Flemington R2 (11.20am)

Lord Vladivostok was a certainty beaten in this race last year and looks primed to make amends. He comes into this race off an identical preparation, albeit he ran a much better race this year, being super unlucky in the Group 2 Damien Oliver on Saturday. Out to 1800m is ideal, Damian Lane takes over, and he is very well weighted with 54Kg.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 4.5/5

More Racing Tips

1. Barber
Flemington R4 (12.40pm)

Barber looks exceptionally well placed here. While he comes off back to back midfield finishes in Sydney, this is a huge drop in class as is shown by his official handicap rating more than 11 points clear of any other runner. The form also looks solid in the wake of Ozzmosis winning the Coolmore on Saturday. Should prove a class above.

Recommended Price: $2.50
Confidence Level: 4/5

4. Team Captain
Flemington R5 (1.20pm)

Team Captain looks a solid each way bet in the 2800m handicap. The gelding actually won this race two years ago and showed with a solid fourth placing in the Hamilton Cup that he is back to somewhere near his best. Dropping to 56Kg and from barrier four, he should be in the finish at big odds.

Recommended Price: $14
Confidence Level: 3/5

3. Kimochi
Flemington R8 (3.50pm)

Kimochi’s form stands out as being far superior to anything else in this field. She has run second in three consecutive fillies races in Sydney, most recently the Flight Stakes that was run in extremely fast time. She is very well weighted and looks a class above.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 4/5
