Cabaret Queen was disappointing first up but she clearly resented the way she was being ridden (attempted off speed) so prepared to put a line through the run. If we go off her debut effort in the spring where she finished second to Street Artist, she should be the clear favourite, and with Damian Lane up I am expecting her to return to that level.

Jamie Melham comes to Pakenham for one ride on Thursday night and it’s easy to see why she was keen to stick with this horse who was most unlucky at Caulfield last time. She was chopped out for a run at the 200m and with clear going may well have won rather than finish ninth. With even luck, will be hard to hold out even in a handy race.
