Warrnambool isn’t just about the jumps, there are plenty of winners to be found on the flat as well. There is plenty of rain forecast on days two and three of the carnival so we should be on heavy ground by this point.
Best Bet
Warrnambool 9/4 Nerve Not Verve (3:55pm)
Nerve Not Verve comes off a tough win in the Chairman’s Handicap on very heavy ground and similar conditions here can be expected. Grandslam is unproven at the trip and on wet ground, he might adapt to those conditions but it is a huge leap of faith for a $1.90 favourite (at time of writing). Nerve Not Verve is a superb each way bet.

More Racing Tips
Warrnambool 5/2 King of Pharaohs (1:15pm)
King of Pharaohs was a dominant winner first up at Bendigo and looks a very promising three year old. The bookies haven’t missed him in the market, but he looks a class act and suspect he will be a backable price on the day.
Recommended Price: $2.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5
Warrnambool 6/4 Sarodec (1:50pm)
Sarodec was a winner at this carnival last year and showed with a fast finishing fourth first up at Sandown that he has come back in excellent form. He is a dead set swimmer and has the ability to race on speed or come from behind. Looks great value.
Recommended Price: $5.50
Confidence Level: 3/5
Warrnambool 10/7 Zagusto (4:30pm)
For the last race of the carnival we will need hard fit wet trackers and Zagusto certainly falls into that category. He was a dominant winner last time at Bendigo on very heavy ground and has the ability to race on speed.
Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3/5
