Racing Tips – Thursday Best Bets for Flemington

Flemington

Betseeker has you covered for free expert horse racing tips and best bets at Flemington.

Oaks Day sees the running of the second of the Victoria Racing Club classics for three year olds, in this case a staying test for the fillies. With rain through the week the track will likely be soft with runners coming to the middle of the track for better ground.

Best Bet

5. Alcyone
Flemington R5 (3:10pm)

Alcyone has been having a terrific campaign and coming back to Flemington looks an ideal formula for him. The Godolphin gelding was terrific last start in the Five Diamonds Prelude at Randwick, which has proved to be an outstanding form race. Getting out to 1800m is ideal for Alcyone, as is the prospect of a wet track. From barrier four with Jmac up, he will get every chance.

Recommended Price: $3.60
Confidence Level: 4.5/5

More Racing Tips

5. Hell Queen
Flemington R2 (1:15pm)

Hell Queen lived up to her name on debut as the Devil himself could not have come up with as diabolical an outcome as what happened to the filly at Ballarat. Boxed in for a run for all but the last 50m of the Ballarat straight, she was a tragedy beaten. Had she won there by three or four lengths, as she could easily done, I suspect she would be a much shorter price here. At $26 in early betting, she looks terrific value even in a race with a lot of unknowns.

Recommended Price: $9.00/3.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

6. Rocha Clock
Flemington R3 (1:50pm)

Rocha Clock won this race two years ago and looks good value to do so again. She didn’t do much first up at Caulfield, but she seldom does. Second up is when she typically fires, and if she does bring her best form she is exceptionally well placed in this field with 56Kg, being a 102 rater with the next two closest being rated 84. Hughie takes the ride and she is well drawn.

Recommended Price: $5.50
Confidence Level: 3/5

10. Vienna Princess
Flemington R4 (2:30pm)

Vienna Princess is still a maiden but her first finishing second placing at Randwick in Listed company last start suggested she won’t be for long. Held up there until about the 250m, she was explosive once she finally got out, and the winner of that race has run well subsequently. Expect her to get back in the field but swoopers should get their chance.

Recommended Price: $7.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

5. Joyful Fortune
Flemington R6 (3:50pm)

Joyful Fortune acquitted himself well in the Everest last start and finds a much more suitable race here. The Mark Newnham trained ex-Hong Kong galloper won over the 1100m down the Flemington straight back in September – on wet ground – and looks to be a highly talented galloper with plenty of early speed.

Recommended Price: $3.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

1. She's Extreme
Flemington R8 (5:10pm)

She’s Extreme was terrific when taking on the boys in the Spring Champion Stakes last start, finishing third, and with that race providing the quinella in last Saturday’s Derby at Flemington, it looks the right form heading into the Oaks. Barrier one is ideal given the short run to the first turn, then it will be up to Tommy Berry to get her off the fence and into the better going. If he can do that, she should prove too strong for them.

Recommended Price: $2.50
Confidence Level: 4/5
