Day racing on Thursday is at Ararat, before a night meeting at Pakenham. Expecting soft tracks at both venues, albeit slightly better at the latter.

Where’s Poppy was a total forgive run at Geelong last time when caught wide without cover on a day where the fence was a genuine conveyor belt. There have been a couple of subsequent winners from that race already. Back in trip will suit and wet ground holds no fears.

There was a lot to like about Toganmain’s debut on Stawell Cup Day. The gelding ran second in a field of sixth but there was some decent form around it and he really ran through the line well – the second fastest last 3. Getting out to 1600m looks ideal for him and $5 or better in early betting looks a decent price in a race of few chances.

Sigourney should be ready to peak third up. The Mike Moroney trained mare has been okay in both runs back from a spell and finds a much weaker race here. She will get every chance from a perfect draw. Lots to like.

New Hampshire always jumped out like a nice horse but it wasn’t until last start at Geelong that he finally showed it on raceday, going down in a very narrow finish. Two subsequent winners have come out of the race, expect Jamie Mott to press forward on him and take a lot of catching.
