It’s Yarra Valley Cup Day but unfortunately the club has had bad luck with the weather. Expect soft conditions with the chance of a further downgrade.

Le Derriere will be relishing the forecast as she has a terrific record on wet ground. The mare ran a close fourth last time out at Pakenham off a freshen but should strip much fitter into this easier contest. Craig Newitt can have her leading or outside, and she can prove too strong late.

Vistetto showed nice ability on debut at Kilmore over 1450m, finishing fourth. Chris Waller has stepped him up quickly to the 1950m here and he has had a trial between runs to keep his fitness up to the mark. Well drawn, blinkers go on – plenty to like in an even race.

Veteran galloper Keats looks the value in the Yarra Valley Cup. The gelding was an all the way winner of the Moe Cup back in the spring in these conditions and wile he does come here first up he has had three jump outs to prepare. Expect him to sit right on speed and take a lot of catching.
