Whistle Down resumed from a long spell at Terang with a fast finishing fourth over a mile. Given the lack of race fitness it was a good effort from the mare who was a brilliant maiden winner over the Warrnambool Carnival at her last start prior to a spell. Expect Dean Yendall to press forward here and she finds a winnable race.

Not a strong maiden to kick off the day and Fox Man looks the value. He’s been placed second in both runs since resuming and should be at peak fitness here third up. Don’t expect him to lead but if Jack Hill can get away cleanly, he should get every chance here.

Outvie resumes as a gelding for trainer Ciaron Maher off the back of a good trial at Cranbourne. He was comfortably held by King Zephyr there, but that horse is a serious talent. Outvie draws well and should get a good run from the low draw.
