The ever consistent Dashing gets the chance for another trophy in this year’s Werribee Cup. The gelding comes off an excellent run in the stronger Cranbourne version and only goes up 1.5Kg on that effort. The barrier is a concern but if Craig Newitt can have any luck early – and he has led successfully in the past – he is beautifully placed against this field with 55.5Kg.

Matron Bullwinkel is an interesting runner here having her first start for new trainer Matthew Leek. Matthew, like his parents, has a real knack of improving tried horses and her trials have been promising. She also goes well fresh, with two first up wins to her name.
