Lunatic Fringe just hit the front a bit too soon in the Casterton Cup and was left a sitting shot late for Brawl to run over the top of. A winner out to 2250m, the Fiorente mare should have no trouble seeing out the 2400m. Look for Blaike McDougall to sit back of midfield and run over them late.

UK import Komachi was smashed in the betting on his Australian debut and his backers could have been forgiven for reaching for a stiff drink post race as he was a tragedy beaten. Held up until the 200m, he was only beaten about a neck in the end. The extra trip here looks right up his alley and no doubt Mark Pegus – who used to ride plenty of winners at Swan Hill – would have set him for this race.
