Racing heads to Bendigo, the nursery of champions on Sunday, while down in Hobart, it’s Cup day.

Gai Waterhouse has a great record when sending horses to Tassie over the years and she can claim another feature on the island with Goldman. The gelding just didn’t quite see out the 2800m of the Bagot but has trialled very nicely since and comes back to 2400m which should be ideal for him. Expect him to lead and take plenty of catching.

Gran Caballo comes down from Sydney after a good run at his Australian debut where he placed third at Wyong. The Waterhouse/Bott trained gelding should strip fitter for that and will appreciate getting out to the 2400m here. Handy enough field but he has nice upside.

The Inevitable is up there with the likes of Conquering and Geegees Blackflash as one of the most dominant horses to race in Tasmania this century and he can record yet another Tassie win in this year’s Thomas Lyons Stakes. This would make it three straight wins over 1400m at weight for age in Tassie. This field is perhaps a touch stronger but he can get it done once again.
