It’s impossible to look past Sheza Alibi in the Doncaster. Historically it is a great race for a three year old on the rise and she certainly meets that description having won the Randwick Guineas emphatically last start. She drops to 49Kg in this race and is getting upwards of 4Kg from her key rivals in this. All Jamie Melham has to do is keep her out of trouble.

Really liked the way that Classic Gem resumed at Caulfield over a mile and the Oaks fourth placegetter from last spring should be hard to beat stepping up to 2000m. This is clearly a long range plan from trainer Dom Sutton and she looks beautifully placed against a moderate group of three year old fillies.

This race is essentially a re-run of the Manion Cup at Rosehill a fortnight ago and the veteran Taramansour was the run that caught my eye after how much ground he covered. Tommy Berry will need luck from barrier one but if he gets it he is well capable of winning this at a nice price.

Campione D’italia has long shaped as a horse who will relish 1400m and he gets that here in the Sires. He was the eye catching run at the end of the Slipper being the only runner outside the winner to make up a lot of ground – and if he had stuck to the inside like Guest House did, he could well have won.

Tentyris was a total forgive run in the Newmarket. He was given an awful lot of weight there for a three year old and the race never unfolded for him. Back to weight for age he can re-establish himself as the dominant force we saw running over his rivals in the Lightning Stakes first up and the Coolmore Stakes last spring.

The Rosehill Guineas is the best guide to the Derby and Green Spaces was the horse that had ‘back me next time’ written over him in that. He was stronger through the line than anything in that field including last spring’s Derby winner Observer and he draws to get a better run than that horse here.
