The gelding is a class act at his best and with just 55.5Kg is very well placed against this field, especially with favourite Encap likely to be giving away a big start.

She has won two of her four starts including a dominant victory last time out at Pakenham. The mare will appreciate a likely genuine tempo and can run over them late.

State Visit was only narrowly beaten in the Sires Produce and that was after getting engaged in a bumping duel that didn’t help his cause. Hopefully from the wide draw James McDonald will press forward and if he gets the right run, he should have the class.

The best run in the race secured Briasa victory in the TJ Smith and looking at the speed map here, the grey should get the gun run again, with the ability to be right on speed or just take cover in the first three or four. It sets up nicely for a horse in superlative form and who gives every impression of lapping up 1400m.

Que Tempesta probably threw away the Mornington Cup by laying in at the wrong time and the stable certainly appear keen to rectify that issue with the application of the one eyed blinker. If it does the job he is more than capable of winning this race as he has run some terrific races in his short Australian career and he should enjoy a genuine tempo.

Strait Acer has always a been a more talented horse than his overall record would suggest and hopefully with his switch to the O’Shea/Charlton stable he can start delivering on it. There was a lot to like about his recent trial at Randwick where he made strong ground and if he brings that kind of effort here he is capable of figuring in a big way.
