Getta Good Feeling was a beaten favourite in the VRC Oaks in the spring but she looks to have come back an even better filly this autumn and can break through for a deserved G1 win in the Australasian Oaks. She didn’t quite run the 2500m in the spring but should be primed over the 2000m – the same trip she won the Wakeful Stakes over. Form this prep is outstanding and she draws ideally.

The gelding should only be further improved from that run here, and he drops 3Kg into this. Well placed against an even field.

The Hawkes stable have sent Cavalry down to Melbourne off the back of two scintillating wins, the latest of which was at Newcastle by almost five lengths. This is naturally harder but he is only stepping up to BM74 grade so it doesn’t look too ambitious for this very promising gelding from a leading stable.

The VRC Derby placegetter from the spring just got too far back in the Australian Derby and never got into the race but he was running on well and it’s a huge drop in grade from that back to the VRC St Leger. He looks as good a prospect as anything of running out a strong 2800m and is well under the set weights.

Charm Stone won this race last year and looks a great chance to go back to back. She has drawn a wide barrier but that isn’t usually too big a disadvantage as they generally over the water the inside, especially when dry. She was very good first up in the William Reid behind Jigsaw and that form has held up very well.
