The Champagne Stakes looks the right form coming into the the Sires Produce and Gallo Nero is the one who was the clear pick of the runs in that race. He got back to last and covered plenty of ground, but just ran out of time to overhaul Cool Archie. The extra 200m and bigger track are ideal for him here.

Flying Bandit comes off a dominant victory in the Wagga Cup and looks well placed here stepping up to 2400m for the first time. The gelding has drawn wide, but at this track and with plenty of rain about, that should do his chances no harm. His only heavy track run was a comfortable win.

Joliestar is beautifully placed in this year’s Kingsford Smith Stakes, which is considerably weaker than the two races she last ran in, the TJ Smith and the All Aged Stakes down in Sydney, the former of which she was unlucky in and the latter she ran second to Jimmysstar. The wide draw should only help by this time of day.

If you can look past his disappointing run in the Rough Habit Stakes, Firm Agreement’s form is outstanding for the Queensland Derby. He was the best of the males in the Derby down in Sydney, and either side of that ran terrific races in the Tulloch and Frank Packer. Best enough is well and truly good enough and has come up a big price.

Floozie has been a revelation since joining the Tony Gollan stable with three straight wins, the most recent of which came in stakes company at the Gold Coast. This is another step up and she she does go up in weight, but in present form she has an undeniable chance once again.
