Hi Dubai has been switched down to Melbourne off the back of some excellent performances in Sydney, most recently a third behind Autumn Glow and Gangsta Granny that looks particularly good in the wake of their subsequent performances. It’s a set weights race but she comes in well enough and draws to get a great run on speed.

If Arabian Summer had got clear going at the right time last week she may well have beaten Giga Kick in the Schillaci. Needless to say, once she did finally get out she rocketed to the line. The wider draw here is probably better for her and while she will need luck again, I love the one week back up and she should appreciate a strong tempo.

If Ka Ying Rising can win the Everest he can do it without me. His trial was just too poor – by his elite standards – to suggest that he has brought his best form down here. The pace here should be strong which will play into the hands of Jimmysstar – who has a scintillating finish on his day – as well as War Machine who seemingly improves every start.

Willaidow looks a great price in the Moonga Stakes. The lightly raced six year old ran an excellent race at huge odds in the Gilagi last time at Flemington, and 1400m round a bend should be more suitable for him than 1200m down the straight. Should sit right on speed and give a bold sight at huge odds.

15. Half Yours

Impossible to look past Half Yours as a very worthy Caulfield Cup favourite. He stamped himself as a contender for this race with a breathtaking Caloundra Cup win in the winter then has only gone to another level this spring with a dominant Naturalism win, followed by a terrific Turnbull run against a Cox Plate calibre field. Draws to get all the favours.

4. Lake Forest

Lake Forest is the second of the Haggas runners, and he returns to Australia for the first time since winning last year’s Golden Eagle, which turned out to be an incredible form race. Lake Forest has not won since but has run some excellent races in Europe, most recently a second placing in the G1 City of York. Back to his happy hunting ground, he can win again.
