Supercilious hasn’t got a great winning strike rate but putting that to one side, the mare looks beautifully placed here third up. She was terrific against the pattern/bias second up at Geelong and drops from listed company to BM70 grade. Expect her to get back in the run but the pace looks solid and she only has to run up to her current form to win this.

Taken was a terrific winner first up at this track before being a touch disappointing when stepped up in class at Pakenham last time behind Private Eye. He is far better than that, having won four straight previously, and he has trialled nicely between runs. Should simply be too good for these.

Oak Hill is a sprinter who thrives fresh and has a brilliant turn of speed who is capable of running over his rivals here in the 1000m WJ Adams Stakes. He had a terrific prep last spring, not having much luck in a lot of cases, but he is much better suited drawn wide where Jamie Melham can position him back of midfield and fly home without meeting trouble.

Regal Zeus looks a great chance of recording back to back stakes wins here. This race sets up really well for two key reasons. First, he is the only natural leader here so should be able to get things his own way. Second, most of his key rivals are first up and won’t be at peak fitness here with long autumns ahead of them. Not the best horse, but the best horse today.
