The Magic Millions race for three and four year olds looks a contest in two between Stay Focused and Gin A Tonic, but keen on the former here. He backs up after a close up fourth at Pakenham last week in a high rating race, and he comes in very nicely here at the weights. Should lead or be right on speed and should be strong through the line.

Forget Beltoro went around last time at Ballarat, it was a genuinely soft track and he just doesn’t handle that. His previous form in stronger races was pretty good, and back to his preferred going he can run a big race here. Just needs to have some luck from the wide draw to be right in the finish.

Happy to speck Queensland visitor Gold Czech at a price. He is on debut (as most of these are) and his trainer Liam Birchley is having a great run with his two year olds (already three individual winners) so I suspect he isn’t here a week before Christmas for a holiday. Won a trial recently at the Sunshine Coast.

Rue De Royale hasn’t got the greatest winning strike rate but spent much of his three year old career racing out of his grade (and has a handful of group placings) so happy to overlook that especially now he has dropped right back to BM74 grade. He resumes as a gelding first up at Ballarat and was just overhauled late, he will strip fitter and finds an ideal contest.

Dollar Shot was a forgive run last time out at Ballarat when slowly away and just not seeing clear running at the right time. The gelding is having a great prep and strikes a slighly easier contest here. Will be on speed getting a good run and looks great value in this race at double figure odds.
