Free Flying has had two runs, a debut second over this track and trip back in October before failing down the straight on a wet track in Cup Week. Happy to forgive that run given the conditions there and the Hayes stable would surely not be running if he hadn’t come through it well. A repeat of that debut would see him very hard to beat.

Naifah comes back in grade from a very good run in the Red Roses at Flemington won by the talented Point Barrow. Yes, this is a Group 3 as well but it is a much weaker contest. From barrier one she can hold the lead and take a lot of running down.

Alalcance should have further improvement in her stepping up to the 2400m for the first time this prep. She won twice in the autumn at 2400m and 2600m, and given the 64 day gap into her Matriarch Stakes placing the mare should still have good improvement in her. Looks beautifully placed in this year’s Zipping Classic.
