Oak Hill should appreciate getting away from Moonee Valley. While he has run some great races there, unsurprisingly as a backmarker he has also had his share of bad luck, especially at his last two runs. Barrier five around Caulfield should be perfect for him – Blake Shinn can hopefully not be as far back this time, and deploy his terrific acceleration late.

Stretan Angel failed to fire first up but she is beautifully placed here if she can find her best form second up. The mare has been placed at Group 1 level on three occasions including twice in the spring, so coming into this race with just 55Kg is a luxury. Expect a quieter ride here and for her to finish off hard.

The gap in the market between Sir Delius and Buckaroo just looks too big in the Underwood. Buckaroo was terrific on his return in the Memsie, coming from a long way back to run third. The gelding won this race last year and off that run, it’s hard to suggest he is not going as well. Sir Delius is a class horse but he still has something to prove here.

It’s a big step up in grade for the former Kiwi but she can go close in the Rupert Clarke. Her first up run in the Cockram was enormous, coming from last and producing the fastest last 600m and 400m of the meeting. The lightly raced four year old has to step up to open age Group 1 grade, but she is a serious talent and has come up a huge price.

No knock on Half Yours but happy to play this mare at big odds. She placed third in the Sydney Cup in the autumn and showed she was in for a good spring with a midfield finish in the Heatherlie over 1700m. Fitter for that and out to 2000m, the Chris Waller trained mare also has the ability to race on speed which will help against this field.
