There’s a fair argument to be made that Vinrock was the best two year old in Australia last season and the unbeaten colt resumes here to make his claims as a three year old. The Group 1 Sires Produce winner has been trialling up very well for this and draws to get the run of the race. With an unbeaten record to preserve, expect him to be ready to go first up.

Zarastro comes off a career best second placing in the G1 Kingsford Smith and with that race only being in June, his relative level of race fitness is a real positive. Another positive is the set weights and penalties conditions here which mean that despite being the second highest rated runner, he carries only 57Kg. Has plenty of early speed so can lead and take all the catching.

There is a strong argument to be made that Fangirl is the second best horse in the country and she flies fresh and over 1400m, conditions which she will have here in the Memsie Stakes. She doesn’t want it too wet, but the weather now suggests it won’t be. The pace should be genuine and she has an outstanding turn of foot.
