And it’s not an abstract number either given he was a terrific winner first up on Bendigo Cup day in a strong BM78. He was held up there but rattled off the fastest final 200m to win well. He was the only runner to really make ground and it was even more creditable when you consider he was somewhat unsuited under the weights in that race. Beautifully placed here.

With the scratching of Carbanados this morning Major Share now looks beautifully placed in this race. The gelding comes off a last start second at Flemington and while he does run particularly well down the straight, he’s won five races away from there. Will be on speed and take a lot of catching.

Air Assault cost himself his chance at the start in the Cranbourne Cup but still did a good job to finish sixth beaten just two lengths, hitting the line well. Out to 2000m, he can lead this field if he gets a clean getaway and he has shown himself more than capable of winning in this kind of class.
