Saltcoats produced a brilliant performance to come from last over 1800m here last time out and win, and he looks well capable of making it back to back wins. The gelding has a placing in the G2 Tulloch Stakes so has always had a touch of class to him. He was only second up there so should only have further fitness to come.

Glens Top Cat looks the value in this 3000m contest. He backs up off a terrific fourth placing in a stronger race last week at Pakenham. The query is the trip but he certainly looks like he will run it out, and from barrier two Billy Egan will give him every chance to get it. The favourite Galilaeus is a nice horse but will likely be last from his wide draw, which is a big ask.

It’s A Wonder only got in by a short margin last time at Hawkesbury but it was a very good effort to come from last and run down her rivals. The Dundeel mare has always shown lots of talent and she finds a nice race to come to town in. Expect her to get back in the run – along with the favourite – but she should be storming home late.

Georgie Get Mad looks primed to peak here third up off the back of two very sound runs this time here then last time out at Caulfield Heath. The key to this race is that he should be able to position much closer in the run, and he has shown before he can be strong through the line over this 1500m trip.

Press Down has won his last three races away from Flemington in terrific style – and his performances at HQ have been too bad to be true, so prepared to forgive his most recent run in Cup week. He’s got the class edge in this field, as the 60Kg he has been assigned suggests, and if he brings that best form he will be awfully hard to beat again.
