Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Moonee Valley

Betseeker has you covered for free expert horse racing tips and best bets at Moonee Valley.

The weight for age championship of Australasia, the Cox Plate, is the highlight of an outstanding day of racing at the Valley.

Best Bet

2. Oscar's Fortune
Moonee Valley R7 (3.0pm)

Perth galloper Oscar’s Fortune signalled he is ready to win races this side of the Nullabor with a big first up run at Caulfield behind Bellatrix Star, finishing second. The gelding will only strip fitter for that and looks ideally placed stepping up to 1200m at weight for age. Along with Mornington Glory he is significantly advantaged at the weights.

Recommended Price: $3.00
Confidence Level: 4.5/5

More Racing Tips

5. Ikasara
Moonee Valley R2 (12.45pm)

Ikasara comes down with strong Sydney form and looks nicely placed here at Moonee Valley. The colt placed fourth behind the very smart Snitzerland last time but wasn’t beaten far. Jordan Childs should go straight to the front and will prove very hard to run down.

Recommended Price: $3.00
Confidence Level: 4.5/5

4. Foreverintime
Moonee Valley R4 (1.55pm)

Foreverintime strikes an exceptionally weak Group 2 race and looks over the odds. She produced a sharply improved effort at Mornington last start, albeit down in class, Billy Egan should get the right run from barrier two and is capable of fighting out the finish at nice odds. The ex-Kiwi mare should only be better out in trip.

Recommended Price: $12
Confidence Level: 3/5

2. Smokin' Romans
Moonee Valley R5 (2.30pm)

Smokin’ Romans hasn’t won since Queen Victoria sat on the throne but if he is to ever win another race this is it. With the scratching of Kingswood it is a vastly weaker affair and he maps to lead on his ear. Expect him to strip fitter for his last run and he typically runs well at this track.

Recommended Price: $4.60
Confidence Level: 4/5

7. Royal Champion
Moonee Valley R8 (4.20pm)

Royal Champion was a beaten favourite on his Australian debut but he is well capable of bouncing back here. Going from a handicap to weight for age is ideal for him as he won’t be conceding any weight to horses with much lower ratings than him. Combine that with the extra fitness off his last run and he is a great winning chance.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 4/5

6. Pride of Jenni
Moonee Valley R9 (5.10pm)
9. Evaporate
Moonee Valley R9 (5.50pm)

Taking a two bet strategy in this year’s Cox Plate.

Pride of Jenni is the one to beat. She was enormous in the King Charles last weekend and should be ready to peak here stepping up to 2000m. Moonee Valley is the ideal track for her and her biggest rivals talent wise – Via Sistina and Prognosis – are going to be well back in the run.

Evaporate can be the three year old to cause an upset. He was simply a better run than Broadsiding in the Cox Plate and the gap in the market between the two makes no sense. He should be no worse than second or third in the run and has terrific form at this track.

Recommended Price: $4.00/15
Confidence Level: 4/5
