Holymanz looks beautifully placed to make it back to back wins in the Coastal Classic. Each of his last five runs has been in group or listed company with some very good performances in that time, and his preparation into this race off the back of a short freshen is the same as last year. Just needs luck early from the draw to be winning.

GSW’s first two runs from a spell have been only fair but he is much better suited getting out to 2400m and this is comfortably the easiest race he has contested. Just needs some luck from the wide draw to be right in the finish.

Writey O’Pal did a good job coming from well back in the field first up but out to 1400m here I am expecting him to be much more prominent in running, if not actually leading. He is very effective at this trip and with the extra fitness and claim for Pozman he is well placed against this field.

She Dances is terrific value in the Black Pearl. She was much improved second up in the Christmas Stakes at Caulfield but she is much better placed in this field under the set weights and penalties. I would also expect her to be ridden more forward from the low draw.
