Last start’s third placing in the Wagga Cup was a pleasing return to form and James McDonald should give him every chance from barrier seven.

I’m on the Yellow Brick bandwagon and won’t be getting off now, albeit this is certainly his toughest test. First up in the Gold Coast Guineas he was enormous when winning off a tough run, and having been a good thing beaten in the Magic Millions 3YO he really should be on a six race winning streak. Ben Thompson has tactical flexibility from his draw.

Promises Kept is capable of challenging the favourite Kovalica in this year’s Queensland Derby. The gelding was brave in defeat in the SA Derby last start and from barrier one should go forward here and take all the catching. Coming back 100m in trip won’t hurt, he looked all but home last start before just getting reeled in late.

Think About It has to step up to weight for age for the first time but let’s be realistic, this is hardly a genuine Group 1 field. Nevertheless Think About It is a class act, the gelding has won seven from eight and showed a real determination to run down Bacchanalia first up at Gosford when giving it weight. Capable of winning this.

Green Fly flew home first up at Flemington over 1400m and looks primed to run a big race here over the mile. In fact, he recorded the third fastest last 400m of the entire meeting. The import loves wet ground and the pace should be on here from the outset with a big field engaged. Can win.
