Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Caulfield and Rosehill

Betseeker has you covered for free expert horse racing tips and best bets at Caulfield and Rosehill.

Saturday’s best bet is a classy mare with a brilliant turn of foot, to be ridden by the very much in-form Ben Melham.

Best Bet

5. I Am Bene
Caulfield R4 (1:55pm)

I Am Bene is a South Australian visitor with a brilliant turn of foot who looks ideally placed here. Her first up run at home was better than it reads on paper as she was stuck in clearly inferior ground. Ben Melham takes over and while she will likely be giving them a head start again, she has the class to overcome it.

Recommended Price: $3.50
Confidence Level: 4.5/5

5. Thought of That
Caulfield R1 (12:10pm)

Thought of That resumes following a short let up and finds a winnable race. The key this chances is the speed map. The Maher/Eustace trained gelding is the only natural leader in the race so Linda Meech should have no trouble finding the lead. With key dangers Chief Altony and Jimmy The Bear likely to be giving a start, that can prove decisive.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

6. Conscript
Rosehill R4 (1:05pm)

The market has this down as a two horse race between Katalin and Conscript and I think that’s right, but with a strong lead to the latter. The Ryan/Alexiou trained gelding has the race fitness edge and should find the front without too much pressure. In terrific form, he should win again.

Recommended Price: $2.10
Confidence Level: 4/5

3. Hellfest
Caulfield R3 (1:20pm)

Hellfest is putting together an impressive record with three wins from five runs. Her only defeats have come on heavy ground. Jamie Kah takes the ride and she can likely sit closer in the run than some key rivals. Should take plenty of running down.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

1. Mugatoo
Rosehill R6 (2:15pm)

Mugatoo is first up here with a big weight from a long spell but class takes you a long way and I think he can get the job done. He’s only a few starts removed from starting a $4.20 favourite in the Doncaster, Trials have been encouraging and anything like his best form wins this with a leg in the air.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

11. Zoukerino
Rosehill R8 (3:35pm)

Keen on Zoukerino to upset the favourite Kibou. Zoukerino has had just the one start, for a scintillating victory on the Kensington track in late July. She has been back to the trials since and ran second to Kibou, but that colt was under much more pressure than she was. From a favourable draw she should get the run of the race and prove hard to beat.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

1. Lombardo
Caulfield R7 (3:55pm)

Lombardo is an attractive price for a last start Group 1 winner. Yes, it was a fairly weak Goodwood and he has the 61Kg, but he has run well with big weights before. If Zac Spain can get to the front without doing too much work, he will prove hard to run down.

Recommended Price: $6.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

3. Streets of Avalon
Caulfield R8 (4:35pm)

The PB Lawrence is an interesting race and I’m keen on one at big odds. Streets of Avalon was a forgive run first up on wet ground, which he simply does not handle. With the prospect of a much firmer track in the offing, he can bounce back to his best form which is well and truly good enough for this race. Zac Spain should have no trouble finding the lead from barrier one.

Recommended Price: $13/4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

16. El Rocko
Caulfield R9 (5:08pm)

El Rocko has won both starts back from a spell in brilliant style, firstly a seven length romp at Sandown before bolting it at Sandown by the better part of four. The John McArdle trained gelding was stakes placed at two so it looks like he is finally delivering on what he has long promised. This race is a step up, but one he is capable of making.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 4/5
