Cylinder can give Godolphin another win in the Group 1 Golden Rose. Going back to the Woodlands and Darley days the operation has dominated this race and they have a very worthy favourite in Cylinder. He was massive in the Run to the Rose when he didn’t see clear running until late but launched to get up in the last stride. 1400m should hold no fears based off that and Nash Rawiller will put him in the right spot from barrier six.

Kristilli was simply too bad to be true first up at Randwick. Sent out $4.60 in the G2 Silver Shadow, she was eased out of the race and beaten 20 lengths. Since then, she’s gone back to the trials and looked back to her best finishing second under no pressure. Well drawn, she can bounce back at a huge price for a filly of her ability.

Goldman was just a run first up at Moonee Valley but he has always been a horse that needed a distance. Getting out to 2000m second up looks ideal and while he has drawn wide, expect him to press forward from the wide draw and take up the running. He will take a lot of getting past.

Soulcombe could not have been more impressive winning first up and looks capable of stepping up to weight for age company. Despite missing the kick he rattled home to win and in the process ran the second fastest last 400m of the entire meeting. Hopefully Blake Shinn can get him to jump away a little quicker here because if he does he has the turn of foot to be an excellent weight for age horse.

9. Rainbiel

Rainbiel blew the start first up at Randwick and did an excellent job under the circumstances to only get beaten less than three lengths. She’ll strip fitter for that and with a clean getaway she is more than capable of figuring here. An ex-Victorian now with Joe Pride, it’s been a winning formula in the past.
