Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Caulfield and Randwick

Betseeker has you covered for free expert horse racing tips and best bets at Caulfield and Randwick.

The best day of racing on the Australian calendar awaits. At Randwick, it’s the Everest, at Caulfield, the Cup. Expect genuinely wet ground down south, while a soft track can be expected up north.

Best Bet

4. Skybird
Caulfield R8 (4.30pm)

Classy mare Skybird looks primed here third up from a spell. Both runs this time in have been outstanding, finishing second first up in the Bobbie Lewis before chasing home Revolutionary Miss last time at Flemington. From barrier three she draws to get every chance and she will relish the wet ground.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 4.5/5

More Racing Tips

5. Trust In You
Randwick R1 (12.30pm)

It’s hard to understand the gap in betting between Trust In You and Etna Rosso (favourite) in this one given that they both come out of the Metropolitan where Trust In You ran better despite a tougher trip in transit. He also gets a small weight swing in his favour. Well over the odds.

Recommended Price: $7.50
Confidence Level: 3/5

4. Tarpaulin
Caulfield R2 (12.50pm)

Tarpaulin loomed up to win last time at Flemington but just peaked on his run late. Expect him to strip much fitter for that, and the prospect of getting on to wet ground – he has won twice on heavy – is ideal for him. Ben Melham will give him every chance from barrier one.

Recommended Price: $6.50
Confidence Level: 3/5

8. High Dandy
Randwick R2 (1.05pm)

High Dandy was just run down late last time at Dubbo but should have lost no admirers in defeat, given he was trying to lead all the way in exceptional time. The lightly raced gelding drops to 52Kg here, should go straight to the front and will take a lot of catching.

Recommended Price: $6.50
Confidence Level: 3/5

6. Inevitable Truth
Caulfield R4 (2.00pm)

Sydney trainer John Sargent is a great trainer of staying fillies and he has another potential Oaks contender here in Inevitable Truth. She was strong through the line over 1800m last time at Flemington after being held up for much of the straight. Should relish the extra trip and looks well over the odds.

Recommended Price: $10
Confidence Level: 3/5

5. Boom Torque
Randwick R5 (2.50pm)

Boom Torque looks great value in this year’s Kosciuszko. He drops back from a Group 2 last start where he ran a terrific race to finish third behind Encap. Nash Rawiller will give him every chance from barrier two, he can trail Front Page and hopefully be too strong late.

Recommended Price: $7.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

2. Think About It
Randwick R6 (3.25pm)

Last year’s Everest winner failed to get a run in the main event but should take plenty of beating in the consolation. First up nothing went right when he was dragged back off a slow tempo, but he should get his chance here despite the wide draw with plenty of speed on. Look for him flying home late.

Recommended Price: $7.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

10. Traffic Warden
Randwick R7 (4.15pm)
11. Storm Boy
Randwick R7 (4.15pm)

It’s a two bet strategy in the Everest for me. The older horses are a very even lot so if a runner is to find a new level here it is likely one of the three year olds. Traffic Warden was a scintillating winner first up over this trip and lost no admirers in the Golden Rose, while if Storm Boy happens to get away cleanly, he is well capable of winning.

Recommended Price: $7.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

6. Warmonger
Caulfield R9 (5.15pm)

If you can look past Warmonger’s last start run he has exceptionally strong claims for this year’s Caulfield Cup. His last run at this distance range saw him win the Queensland Derby by ten lengths and after his first up effort in the Makybe Diva where he stormed home over a mile suggested he was capable of finding that form again. The prospect of a solidly run 2400m on a wet track is ideal for him.

Recommended Price: $10
Confidence Level: 3/5

6. Ceolwulf
Randwick R9 (5.35pm)

Not sure that Pride of Jenni is going to get her customary big lead here and they might be able to grab her late. Ceolwulf has to step up to weight for age company but his Epsom win was simply outstanding, showing a brilliant turn of foot to win easily. If he gets the right run from barrier two he can repeat the dose here.

Recommended Price: $6.00
Confidence Level: 3/5
