Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Caulfield and Randwick

Expect soft going at Caulfield and a very heavy deck at Randwick.

Best Bet

12. Impulsar
Caulfield R4 (1:35pm)

Irish import Impulsar was terrific on his Australian debut at Sandown, winning impressively against a strong field despite covering plenty of ground in the run. A winner out to 2400m in the UK, he should only be better suited out to 2000m with a run under his belt.

Recommended Price: $3.50
Confidence Level: 4/5

More Racing Tips

2. La Chevalee
Randwick R4 (12:45pm)

La Chevalee disappointed last start in Adelaide but one thing we know about this mare is how good she is on wet ground, with four wins from six appearances. That includes two wins here, including a victory two starts ago. Expect her to find her best form again.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

1. Teewaters
Caulfield R3 (1:00pm)
8. The Red Kite
Caulfield R3 (1:00pm)

Keen to play a couple here at big odds. Teewaters ran third in the VRC Derby but his form since has tapered off. However, his recent jumpout at Ballarat was superb and he’s worth another chance. The Red Kite was a terrific winner on the synthetic at Ballarat on debut then had no luck when posted three wide throughout at Casterton. He can figure here without surprising.

Recommended Price: $10/8.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

13. Tympanist
Randwick R5 (1:35pm)

Tympanist has been knocking on the door and should get his chance in this Midway Handicap. He comes off a last start second here a fortnight ago and he prospect of wet ground holds no fears. Look for Andrew Adkins to press forward and get a good run on the speed.

Recommended Price: $6.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

12. Jojo Was A Man
Randwick R8 (3:15pm)

Jojo Was A Man is in terrific form and in a race where the first two in the market (Taksu and Chief Altony) look under the odds, represents good value. The John Thompson trained gelding is looking for his third straight win at this track and trip, and while he is up in class he will enjoy a big weight drop. Reece Jones should give him run of the race.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

3. Sartorial Splendor
Caulfield R8 (4:10pm)

I’ve always had a big question mark next to Sartorial Splendor’s ability to run a strong 1200m so for him to get well at Flemington last week suggests he is in career best form. The 100m drop on the quick back up looks an ideal formula for him and this is not strong for a black type race. Each way.

Recommended Price: $9.00/3.00
Confidence Level: 3/5
