Bankers Choice strikes a good race here with a number of horses here resuming and probably wanting further. He should be able to find the front from the low draw and not do too much work early. If Dan Stackhouse can get a couple of cheap sectionals mid race he will be hard to run down.

His last two runs of the spring were outstanding, winning at Flemington before a second placing to Nadal in the Meteorite. He flies fresh and his trial form has been excellent.

Cataggio is the only runner of the top five in betting that isn’t off an extended break into this race. Gai sent him north to the Gold Coast for a crack at the Magic Millions and he did a great job to finish fourth in the Guineas. He will lead here and that race fitness edge can prove critical.

Finding horses with a race fitness edge is often a good way to bet early carnival races and Schwarz fits the bill in the Orr Stakes. He was a dominant all the way winner in the Australia Stakes and should hopefully lead again. The entire is two from three at this trip and might just be able to pinch this given his key rivals Mr Brightside and Another Wil are coming into it first up.
