Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Ballarat

It’s Ballarat Cup day and there is once again – despite it being the middle of summer – plenty of rain forecast, which might see the Cup run on a heavy track for the third straight year.

Best Bet

1. Joyful Fortune
Ballarat R7 (3.45pm)

Joyful Fortune is an eight year old with ten starts to his name so clearly has some issues but he is an exceptionally talented horse. He resumes off more than 700 days off but he won his two of this races prior in Australia and the other one was in the Everest. The Hayes stable have given him three jumpouts leading into this, winning all three, and if he brings he best he should be winning.

Recommended Price: $4.20
Confidence Level: 4/5

More Racing Tips

9. Extremely Rowdy
Ballarat R3 (1.20pm)

Extremely Rowdy’s form reads 3-9-9 but her performances have been better than that, especially her last one in the G3 at Caulfield where she was strong through the line. She faces a very big drop in class here and the prospect of a rain affected track is very much in her favour.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

3. Miss Roumbini
Ballarat R4 (1.55pm)

Loved the return of Miss Roumbini first up at Caulfield where she was strong through the line behind Niance. There should be a good amount of speed in this one so her get back style should not be at a big disadvantage, and the prospect of any raun is very much to her advantage.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

6. Zechariah
Ballarat R9 (5.00pm)

Zechariah looks well over the odds in the Ballarat Cup. The import didn’t do much on his Australian debut but improved drastically last time in the Kilmore Cup, with rain and extra distance being very much in his favour. He’s a winner out to 2600m so stepping from a mile to 2000m now is ideal for him. Drawn wide, but if the rain comes that won’t be a problem.

Recommended Price: $12
Confidence Level: 3/5

5. The Open
Ballarat R10 (5.40pm)

The Open had zero luck when resuming at Moonee Valley and was a total forget run. He was sent off favourite as he is a very talented galloper and he will only strip fitter for that. Any rain around is no problem and Tom Prebble has plenty of options from the draw, but don’t expect him to be too far away in the run.

Recommended Price: $6.00
Confidence Level: 3/5
