Former Victorian Check Your Six looks primed to break through here. His first up run for new trainer Roy McCabe was a close up third at Dubbo when caught wide throughout and he should only strip fitter into this. Jean Van Overmire takes the ride and he draws nicely in four after scratchings.

Aspen Boulevard has lead and been run down at her last two runs so coming back to the 900m should be ideal. The mare’s form is rock solid and with the claim for the apprentice she is really well placed here. The heart may be in the mouth late but she should be able to hold on.

Fantasy Crowned has been well backed in early markets and it’s easy to see why given that he comes out of a hot form race that has produced three subsequent winners. He hasn’t had much luck in either run this time in but with a better draw and senior rider taking over he looks hard to beat stepping out to 1400m.
