Racing Tips – Monday Best Bets for Flemington and Randwick

Flemington will present a perfect surface while the Kensington track at Randwick will be heavy.

Best Bet

Flemington 7/1 Alegron (4:30pm)

Alegron has placed in both the VRC and ATC Derby and can crack it for a deserved win in the VRC St Leger. The Godolphin gelding wasn’t far away at all in the Australian Derby three weeks ago at Randwick, being beaten just over three quarters of a length. His Flemington form speaks for itself and he simply looks a class above.

Recommended Price: $1.80
Confidence Level: 5/5

More Racing Tips

Flemington 1/7 Killourney (1:00pm)

Killourney is a smart stayer who showed he is back to his best with a fast finishing second in the Mount Gambier Cup last start. This is tougher but he has run well over this trip before and at Flemington. Can be right in the finish at good odds.

Recommended Price: $7.50
Confidence Level: 3/5

Randwick – Kensington 2/2 Terrameades (1:20pm)

Terrameades brings some nice form to her metropolitan debut having won twice in a row at Taree and then Newcastle. The horse she beat last time, Smirk, confirmed the form with a win at Canterbury on Tuesday. This is a nice race for her.

Recommended Price: $2.35
Confidence Level: 4/5

Flemington 4/5 Tonneofgrit (2:45pm)

Tonneofgrit returns to Melbourne after finishing down the track in Listed grade last start at Randwick. His previous run was excellent and suspect he will appreciate getting back on to a firmer surface. Nice value at big odds.

Recommended Price: $11/3.30
Confidence Level: 3/5

Randwick-Kensington 5/1 Rangi Toa (3:00pm)

Ex-Kiwi Rangi Toa is having his first start for new trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. He showed good ability in his homeland, winning twice and finishing second in Listed grade in three starts. His trials have been okay and he can run a big race here.

Recommended Price: $9.00/3.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

Flemington 8/3 Amboone (5:05pm)

Amboone has come up an attractive price in the last at Flemington. There was a lot to like about his first up run at Caulfield, finishing second after a long break. He should only be fitter and better out in trip so it wouldn’t surprise to see him run a good race here at $31 in early markets.

Recommended Price: $15/4.00
Confidence Level: 3/5
