Racing on Friday night is back at Moonee Valley with the rail in the true position for the first time since Cox Plate day. Fresh ground should advantage leaders early, even more than usual. The track will be rated good.

Pitchanun came out on the wrong side of an epic race with Vegas Knight last start and can make amends here. The Danny O’Brien trained gelding got into a two horse war and when the judge called a halt, his nose was unfortunately in the wrong spot. That looks excellent form for this race, John Allen should press forward, control the race and go one better.

Capital Express is a big price here but she can lead for a long way. She ran well in a pretty handy race first up over 1000m, out to 1200m and from the inside draw I expect her to be in front this time. The Nick Ryan stable is in terrific form and having a particularly good run of form at this track.

The five year old won first up at Casterton, and has run well at both starts since with his most recent placing being third behind the aforementioned Vegas Knight here last time. The extra trip suits and he’s capable of racing on speed.

Mutinous not only demolished his rivals last start at Tatura he broke the track record in the process. That is a seriously impressive effort when leading all the way. The gelding has long had talent, he appears to now be finally delivering on it and can win again.

Grinzinger Prince comes off a last start fifth on Geelong Cup day in what has proved to be a strong form race. Trainer Danny O’Brien has kept him fresh for this, but given him a jumpout at Flemington to keep him up to the mark. A talent sprinter on his day, if the breaks go right he can win this.
