Kings Consort looks a class above in the 2022 Elvstroem Classic. The Freedman trained gelding too out the $1m Showdown two starts back at Caulfield before acquitting himself very well in the SA Sires Produce last time. That was run on the Parks track which didn’t suit his racing pattern. Swan Hill certainly does and he should power over them late.

Stern Idol is having his first Australian start and has a bit of X-factor about him. His last four starts were all over jumps at Auteuil, a stones throw from the Eiffel Tower. The Irish bred galloper has come a long way to Swan Hill and while he hasn’t had a flat trial his jumps trials have been most impressive. Suspect he can figure here on the flat over 2400m.

Regardsmaree drops back from Group 1 level in the Goodwood last start and he certainly acquitted himself well, finishing in the front half of the field. This is a drop back in class and he is likely to appreciate what should be a very genuine tempo.

Imperial Hilton is a horse with a tremendous turn of foot on his day and looks well suited here. Expect Billy Egan to drop him back to near last but they should go quick here, and expect by this time of the day that the best going will be out wide. He should run over them late.
