Racing Tips – Friday Best Bets for Swan Hill

The famous Swan Hill Carnival kicks off on Friday with the highlights being the Elvstroem Classic for the two year olds and the Golden Topaz for the sprinters. Expect heavy ground for all three days.

Best Bet

5. Sacred Palace
Swan Hill R7 (3:50pm)

Sacred Palace can break through for a deserved win in the Golden Topaz. The gelding’s third placing in the Wangoom at the Bool two starts back is an outstanding form reference for this race, coming as it did on very heavy ground. I’m inclined to forgive last start at Flemington down in trip on a firmer surface. Expect wide going to be better by this stage and that’s where he will find himself.

Recommended Price: $4.50
Confidence Level: 4/5

More Racing Tips

3. Galathilion
Swan Hill R1 (12:15pm)

Galathilion is knocking on the door to win a race and gets his chance here. The race fitness edge over key rivals should help and he has the ability to race on speed and handle wet going, which should prove decisive. Trainer Shaun Mathrick is finding some good form of late and is no stranger to a winner at this carnival.

Recommended Price: $3.20
Confidence Level: 4/5

5. Kiss Me If You Can
Swan Hill R6 (3:10pm)

Kiss Me If You Can is one horse who will relish the heavy conditions, having won twice and placed four times on heavy ground. The gelding did enough first up at Ballarat under a huge weight, dropping back to 59Kg will suit as will the step up to the mile. Expect him to race on speed and be there right at the finish.

Recommended Price: $10
Confidence Level: 3/5

4. Yeldarb
Swan Hill R8 (4:30pm)

Gun wet tracker Yeldarb can’t be discounted at huge odds in the last. The gelding returned with a strong fourth behind Squad at Sandown and that looks good form for this. A six time winner on heavy ground, he will clearly relish the conditions in a race where there are big question marks next to the wet ground credentials of key rivals.

Recommended Price: $12/3.50
Confidence Level: 3/5
