Running On Time was one of the great certainties beaten last start at Sandown. The mare got stopped in her tracks when she was poised to strike in the home straight and was travelling far better than the eventual winner. From an ideal draw she can make amends in this race.

Angel Down did a great job here last time when stepping up from a Scone maiden to get beaten in the narrowest of finishes. The Waterhouse/Bott trained filly led them up and was headed early in the straight, but fought back early to nearly come back and claim victory. The extra trip should hold no fears and she will get every chance on speed again.

Keats was huge in the Werribee Cup and can win again. The gelding got off the canvas after being headed by Junipal and while he does go up in weight vis a vis that horse, in present form he looks capable of carrying it. Linda Meech should press forward on him and take all the catching.

Najem Suhail looks nice value in this year’s Christmas Stakes. The gelding just doesn’t run a bad race and lost no admirers in defeat last time at Caulfield. He does have the wide draw to deal with but the gelding has plenty of early speed so should be able to cross here. If he does so, he can lead this for a long way.
