NRLW Tips – NRL Women’s Preview Round 1 2024

NRL Tips

The 2024 NRLW season kicks off with a captivating opening round including the two title favourites going at it in Newcastle.

Knights v Roosters

Newcastle -1.5
Line

The champions get a standalone to open the season and they are a strong bet against an injury-ravaged Roosters. The Chooks are playing too many players out of position including Isabelle Kelly at fullback and Jayme Fressard at five-eighth. The Knights pack is nearly all rep stars and Tamika Upton is the star player in the code. Very keen Newcastle.

Tamika Upton Try/Tarryn Aiken Try
Same Game Multi

Tamika Upton has 19 tries in 28 games in the NRLW including four in five games against the Roosters.

Tarryn Aiken has eight tries in her last 15 NRLW games and is always over the odds.

Sharks v Cowboys

Cowboys +11.5
Line

Not the easiest game but suspect the line is a little large. Cronulla thumped the Cowboys 40-12 last year but they were just 2-2 at Pointsbet. The Cowboys started well enough with a win over the eventual premiers and another over the Tigers in the first four weeks before fading. The signing of Whitfield gives Kira Dibb a handy weapon.

Annessa Biddle Try/Jakiya Whitfield Try
Same Game Multi

Annessa Biddle was very good in her rookie season and score twice last year.

Jakiya Whitfeld is a genuine speedster with four tries in nine games for the Tigers last year and has better playmakers this year.

Broncos v Eels

Broncos -12.5
Line

The Eels were a complete debacle in their first season. They managed just a single win – against the lowly Cowboys – and they conceded 34-plus in six of their nine games. Brisbane won just 22-12 but suspect this could get ugly. The Parramatta team are abhorrent from top to tail and how they contain the likes of Mele Hufanga is anyone’s guess.

Mele Hufanga Try/Bree Spreadborough Try
Same Game Multi

Mele Hufanga is a beast who scored 10 tries in 10 games in here debut season in the NRLW.

Bree Spreadborough has been a good tryscorer for the Capras, scoring six tries in eight games last season.

Dragons v Titans

Titans -4.5
Line

This looks a mismatch on paper. The Titans shape as a very good team this year. No team has better middles. The backline might be the best in the NRLW. The Dragons are going to get smashed through the middle. This could get ugly.

Jaime Chapman Try/Teagan Berry Try
Same Game Multi

Jaime Chapman is an elite tryscorer with 16 tries in 23 NRLW seasons.

Teagan Berry is the greatest tryscorer in NRLW history with 21 tries in 23 games.

Tigers v Raiders

Raiders +1.5
Line

Canberra were very clear in what they could do last year. They went 4-0 against the bottom four teams and they went 1-4 against Top 6 teams. The Raiders are better coached and have a better pack. They won the corresponding matchup last year and confident they can do same in 2024l

Leianne Tufuga Try/Madison Bartlett Try
Same Game Multi

Leianne Tufuga scored five tries in her debut season for the Tigers.

Madison Bartlett has 18 tries in 25 games placing her in the Top 4 tryscorers.
