New South Wales have turned the tables on Queensland in recent years by lifting the shield in three of the last four seasons and look to be on the verge of another series triumph after an 11-6 win in a wet and windy Newcastle where the Sky Blues played extremely poorly but still lifted the trophy.

The Blues handed the reins to Roosters premiership winning coach John Strange – the best coach in the women’s game – and it reaped immediate rewards with NSW winning the two live games of the series by 20 points last season before winning the opener this year making it a perfect three-from-three in live matches.

He has stuck fat with only the injured Tiana Penitani-Gray left out with Kezzie Apps to start and Rima Butler joining the bench.

Queensland have lost Phoenix-Raine Hippie with Jasmine Peters coming in. Otese Pule will start after her outstanding showing in the opener.

The Sky Blues could not have been more wasteful in the opener with nine errors and 25 missed tackles but still dominated the game.

The Blues have won the Suncorp affair the last two seasons by double digits.

New South Wales win this and by plenty.
