John Strange’s first year in charge of the Blues has seen New South Wales completely rout Queensland.
After claiming the opener 32-12 at Suncorp, New South Wales overcame torrential conditions to win 26-6 at Allianz. Both scores arguably flattered Queensland.
Strange has an outstanding record at the Roosters with a 25-9 record and two premierships in four seasons and has clearly made an impact in a very positive way at Origin level.. Strange made some key changes and they worked a treat. The entire spine is new with Abbi Church, Tiana Penitani, Jesse Southwell and Kelley Davis replacing Emma Tonegato (who is now on the bench), Corban Baxter, Rachel Pearson and Olivia Higgins. Jayme Fressard, Jocelyn Kelleher and Kennedy Cherrington are major upgrades.
New South Wales go in unchanged for Game 3 while Queensland have been forced into changes. Hayley Maddick replaces the injured Tamika Upton in a huge downgrade. Ali Brigginshaw has been shifted to lock with Lauren Brown moving to halfback and Destiny Brill starting at hooker. Keilee Joseph drops out of the 17. Georgia Hannaway replaces Jada Ferguson on the bench.
The Blues attack has proven impossible for the Maroons to stop. They made nine line breaks to Queensland’s one and ran for over 500m more in the opener. It was much the same in the second. NSW ran for 600m more, made five line breaks to zero and busted 46 tackles to Queensland’s 10.
The series started pick ’em. The line is now 13.5. And it still isn’t big enough.

Jayme Fressard has 17 tries in 22 games for the Roosters and scored a double in her Origin debut.
Ellie Johnston scored on her Origin debut and she has a great club record for a prop with 10 tries in her last 20.
Value Bet
Olivia Kernick is without question the best player on the field but after winning the gong in Game 2 is unlikely to get it again. Simaima Taufa has been sensational in both games, probably the second best in both games. She is a reliable type and looks a great bet.
