England could not have been more disappointing at Wembley when going down 26-6 to an Australian team that was a long way from its best.
Australia ran for 517 more metres and made nine line breaks to three but completed at just 67% on the back of 15 handling errors. England just refused to play football though and their conservative game plan could not have been less effective.
This is not a vintage Australian team. There are plenty of big names missing through either injury, unavailability or a preference to play for a Pasifika nation. They were there to be beat in the opener but a dreadful England could not take advantage.
England have not named their team at the time of writing and made some very ordinary selection calls with their squad but they will surely make some positive changes from the opening Test including bringing in AJ Brimson and Morgan Smithies.
Since moving from Great Britain to England in 2008, the home team has lost all 12 Tests against Australia. Recent Tests though have been close though with four of the last six Australian wins of 14 or less.
England have won seven of their last eight Tests and 14 of their last 17. Sweeps of Tonga and Samoa should not be underestimated and the Ashes is on the line here.
Australia has not lost in the UK in two decades but have lost Tests to New Zealand in 2018 and 2023 and Tonga in 2019.
There is unlikely to be many points in this one so the +18.5 seems a good bet.

George Williams has a very good tryscoring record with 10 tries in 22 Tests to go with 97 tries in 282 Super League matches.
Angus Crichton was Australia’s best forward at Wembley with his strong running netting him a double.

Dolphins centre Herbie Farnworth is arguably the best centre in the world and had a sensational first Test at Wembley where he stood out as England’s best player by panels. Farnworth had a great season scoring 12 tries in 19 games for the Dolphins. He has six tries in seven Tests for England including doubles in two of his last four.
