The Origin series for 2022 kicks off in Sydney at Accor Stadium and the Billy Slater era at the helm of Queensland is set to begin with a bang,

Queensland were utterly annihilated in the first two games of last series including a 50-6 humiliation in Townsville that will long burn in the memory. The Maroons have moved on though and with Billy Slater at the helm and a far stronger Queensland outfit, they can start the series off with an almighty bang and a win in Sydney.
The tide likely turned before Game 3 last season when the Blues inexplicably shouldered arms to a series sweep with some inane selections. They have doubled down this year with a selection that was both arrogant and strangely defensive.
The Queensland pack – inclusive of the bench – seems far superior to that of their NSW opposition while the addition of Cobbo and Holmes gives the Maroons a huge edge in the three-quarter line. Aside from fullback, NSW have no clear areas of domination on the field.
Until last year’s weird series that was played entirely in Queensland under new rule interpretations that have clearly since been wound back, five of the last seven series had their openers decided by four points or fewer.
This game is set to be close making the Maroons value getting points and at odds-against.

NSW have signalled their intention to be somewhat defensive with their selections so don’t anticipate this being a high-scoring affair with the first half expected to be a real feeling-out period.
Cobbo is in tremendous tryscoring form with 10 tries in his last six games.

Cameron Munster is always a threat to score in a big game as he loves to run the ball and use his strength in huge matches. Munster has six tries in 11 games this year and comes off a double against Manly. He has just one try for the Maroons but this looks a good matchup for him to improve that record.
