There is no more fierce rivalry in the NRL than that of the Roosters and Rabbitohs and with the Bunnies desperate and the Roosters focused, we are in for another brutal chapter.
Best Bet
Expect violence, desperation, brutality and fireworks when the Roosters and Bunnies meet on Friday night at Allianz. That is how these meetings have played out of late. There is no reason to suggest this will be any different with Souths being widely slammed in the media and the Roosters keen to prove themselves legitimate title contenders.
Selection news has been all the rage. The Roosters have lost Luke Keary to concussion protocols and have dropped Siua Wong while the Rabbitohs have dumped halfback Lachlan Ilias – and not before time.
The Roosters have won three of the last four meetings but have been poor as a favourite. The Rabbitohs are failing the eye test no end and have covered just one of seven off conceding 28.
The Roosters are a small bet but the top play in this one is the under.
The under hits at over 75% the last three seasons when a team is off conceding 18-plus in the first four rounds while it is a 69.6% when teams are off conceding 28-plus.
When the Roostes play at Allianz, the under is 8-2.
Expect points to come at a premium on Friday night.
Same Game Multi
Dom Young is an elite tryscorer who has 44 tries in 52 games and is on the back of an excellent backline against a poor defensive side.
Latrell Mitchell has scored in three of his last five against his former club.
Value Bet
Sitili Tupouniua is an underrated tryscorer who can get across against Souths. He has 23 tries in 51 games when starting in the second row. Souths have looked incredibly vulnerable on the edges and hitting the Tass/Host combination will have him salivating.
